Just a quick note to let you know that it’s that time again and applications have opened for the Spring 09 handmade market! The Market will be Sunday, May 3rd at Marbles Kids Museum in Downtown Raleigh.
Yes, the Made Of Money necklaces have finally carved out their own little spot on the website. So have the earrings, but I still have to add the products there. Until I have done that they will still live in the etsy shop.
Don’t forget- I am having a little contest a few posts down. There will be three winners, but so far only 2 people have commented! What’s going on? Don’t you like gift certificates? If there are any of you lurkers (aka readers but not commenters) out there, I challenge you to enter/comment! Come on, it will make me feel better, and it may get you a gift certificate. Make me feel like I am not blogging to a whole audience of two out there!
Living in Raleigh, North Carolina doesn’t get you a whole lot in the way of snow in the winters. I am personally not a fan of winter or cold temperatures as a whole. They make me cranky, uninspired and unmotivated, sleepy, not to mention COLD! Typically what keeps me going through the cold winter days is the thought that spring is next, and will be here before I know it. Winter for me is just going through the motions until the mercury starts rising again.
But when there is snow in the forecast I become a little 11 year old girl again that sits at the window waiting for the first flakes, and as it’s snowing I keep my eye on the sky hoping the flakes will never stop coming down. I love snowy days not only because it makes the world look gorgeous and spotless, covered in a vail of white, but it also brings out the good ol’ cozy and fun in everyone, including myself. I suddenly can’t wait to bundle up and go outside until I can’t feel my finger tips anymore, taste snowflakes on my tongue, then come in and warm up my frozen limbs until they hurt while drinking hot chocolate and eating soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. And then inevitably neighbors invite each other over to either eat or play together until your body just gives in and you crash in bed.
So when the forecasters predicted snow early this week, I was skeptical (there are at least 2 false alarms each winter here in the south, even though it never fails to shut down the entire school system regardless of the outcome) but the little teenager in me started to get giddy. And lo and behold, Tuesday morning we woke up to a white world!
So me and Nolan attempted to bundle up as much as we could (with snow only once in a blue moon, ‘real’ snow clothes are either non-existent in the household, or stuffed somewhere and unable to be located at the critical moment) he wore my gloves and many layers of clothes, and I wore many things from my husband’s closet. And then we headed out.
Snow angels were made, snowmen were formed, snowballs were thrown, walks were taken, pictures were made and fingers, toes, and noses were frozen.
Though the whole thing lasted merely an early afternoon before the snow stopped falling and the temperatures rose, beginning the process to take everything away again I still thoroughly enjoyed it and have gotten my snow fix in full. Now I can happily fo back into hibernating. Wake me up when it’s at least 70 degrees out.
Hey all! It’s been a while since I had a blog contest post, and since it was January when I started my run of them last year, I thought it was about time for the first on this year. This one is a doozy! Just share the top three blogs you read. It doesn’t matter what kind of blog it is; News, Fashion, Gossip, Tech-geekery, Design, Celebrity, Funnies, People, Art, Informational, whatever! Just comment to this post and tell me what yours are. Don’t read blogs much? You can still play, just tell me what fun sites you spend most of your time on.
If you wish you can increase your winning-chances by commenting multiple times, as long as your answers are different every time.
The prize? There will be 3 winners, each randomly selected from the comments, each winning a $10 website gift certificate! The contest ends Saturday January 31st.
All supplies in the etsy supply shop are now marked down 50%! I really need to thin out the bead stash, and I figured putting them out there for a steal just might do the job. Go check them out:
New vintage wallflower pendants have been added to the shop! I realized as I was updating the page that the ‘tiny’ pendants representation on the site was scarce, so I am happy to report all sizes have some great stock for you to to check out (and buy ofcourse)!
One of my dear friends and fellow handmaiden is the inspiring and talented Kristen of Mood Swing. Looking at her designs always makes me smile, but then she had to just go and add these ‘Sweet & Sour‘ brooches to her collection and take things to a whole new lever entirely. This one is my favorite. How can you not wear this and wear a big goofy & confident grin on your face all day long?
The Vintage Wallflower earrings have been out of stock for a good while so I am feeling productive now that I’ve gotten 9 fresh and new pairs of those up on the site!
There are still a few clearance earrings left in the Etsy shop for only $30. Since they are reversible that’s really like getting two earrings for $15 each! I must say that’s a darn good price for a great pair of handmade earrings!
Fresh vintage wallpaper rings have been added to the site today and they are lovely. I love to wear these rings myself, the rectangle shape fits my fingers really well and because they are adjustable I can change my mind at any time which finger I want to wear it on. And all the compliments I receive about them don’t hurt either ofcourse!
