I am listening to an This American Life podcast, and the most recent one features one of my favorite TAL clips ever. It’s a little story the actor Tate Donovan shares about somthing that happened when he was not a very recognisable actor yet. It’s one of the funniest things I have ever heard. It’s the very first story in this podcast, enjoy.

Lucky (our cat and also obviously the oh-so-creative source of my business name) approves of our recycling efforts. Especially the one in Greg’s office. It serves two purposes, how environmentally conscious is that!

I’ll admit it, I watched Britney Spear’s Documentary on MTV along with every 14 year old boy and girl in the country. I don’t follow celebrity news (or any news for that matter) a whole lot, but even so I couldn’t help but stay frequently updated about the trials and tribulations of this poor girl. And for the sake of picking sides I’ve remained on ‘team Britney’ the whole time. If anything I think whatever we’ve seen her do in the past three years have made her more human in my eyes. It’s been like any one of us being on the Truman show. We all make mistakes, just not in a glass house.
Anyways, the reason why I felt like sharing this little tidbit of my random thoughts is because I have felt so bad for this girl, and the poor choices that she’s made for herself, and the public way she has had to pay for every single one of those choices. Aat times I’ve wished I could have picked up the phone, given her a call and told her to swing by my house so we could drink hot chocolate, watch a couple of chick flix, during which I could tell her that everything was going to be okay. I was going to make a youtube video of myself crying and asking everybody to just leave her alone, but unfortunately somebody beat me to it.
So when I saw previews of ‘For the Record‘ (probably while I was watching the Hills, I have no secrets) I was excited for what looked like Britney’s response after these years of ups and downs and public silence. So Sunday I made a point to watch it, and I have to say I am very proud of this girl. The thing that struck me the most is that of all celebrities I wouldn’t blame her one bit for lashing out at the horrendous paparazzi avalanches she receives at any given moment, and she remains so positive about it. She loves her job, and realizes that that’s just the price that she has to pay for it, and she is okay with it. She doesn’t love it, but she accepts it. Which I think is really something we can all learn from. Which sounds pretty funny; we can all learn something from Britney Spears (other than, what not to do).
Anyhooz, watch the documentary if you dare. It was mighty insightful. It looks like starting tomorrow (December 3rd) they will stream the whole thing on the online, but I imagine they will probably also replay it on the tv about another 15324 times between now and next week.

A few weekends ago I had a handmaidens trunkshow at a store called Imaginese in Cary, and we spent almost the entire time snooping around the store finding one great thing after another. One of my favorite things I found there were these cable magnet display thingies. It’s great because it’s simply a cable with a look at the top and a weight at the bottom, and 8 tiny little super powerful magnets that you use to display things like art or pictures or Nolan’s latest art project. They come in a few colors, but my favorite was just the basic steel color one. I got a few packs, and I may just run back to get a few as stocking stuffers too. I have found them online at Amazon and here, but at Imaginese they are only $8! As I looked for them on the web I noticed they also make them with the magnets as airplaines, bugs, flowers, cars, and more. Find a whole bunch of them here

Shop Updates:
|
|
|
-I have finally added the two new vintage wallpaper reversible pendant sizes to the website this past week, so don’t forget to check those out.
-I have also moved a few vintage wallpaper pendants and earrings on clearance to the etsy shop to make room for all the new on the site.
- Currently the Made Of Money jewelry pieces still only live in the Etsy shop, but (hopefully) this week they will be moved to the website. I have added them to the shop as I have made more, which is often because they sell so well! I have even had to acquire more coins as my own stash is starting to run low- who knew this would happen! If you have foreign coins to share be sure to let me know, there may be a free necklace in it for you in exchange! |
