The little school girl inside of me

Apr 7th, 2009 Posted in Me Me Me, That's random | no comment »

So I have a new addiction and it’s called Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. I didn’t know about it until running across it on Hulu last week. One of my favorite things to do during tedious jewelry production, is find a tv show to watch online while I am working to distract me from the fact that I am doing the same thing over and over again. Hulu.com is one of my favorite stops for this purpose. Since I often have to do assembly-line style production (by myself mind you, but it’s just more efficient to do it this way) I am always looking for new entertainment on the online. So that’s how I came to find out that Late Night has a new host, and that it was Jimmy Fallon!
I have never really been a huge fan of Late Night shows because 1) They are on  waaaaay past my bed time and 2) They usually target an audience that I just don’t really feel a part of, so I never got a reason to get sucked in. That was until I turned this show on.
Now I am a little bit addicted, and I think these are the reasons:
a- The target audience now seems to be ‘people who don’t take themselves too serious’ (raises hand)
b- I seem to have developed a bit of a high-school-girl type crush on Jimmy.  It’s kind of ridiculous, but it’s probably because he is adorable, funny, and goofy, but I think is a little bit fueled by the fact that it’s possible to ‘talk at him’ at any time, which brings me to the next reason:
c- Jimmy is on Twitter and gives all kinds of behind the scenes info, and actually answers many followers’ questions and comments that totally intrigues and infatuates this geeky girl. When in the past has the public had such access to a favorite famous person? How cool is this!

The internets seems to be a bit divided about if they like Jimmy as a Late Night host or not, so if you have not formed such an opinion yourself yet, I have a little test for you below. Watch the video, and if this doesn’t make you laugh so hard that tears are streaming down your face and your stomach muscles are cramping, you are not going to like the show. If it does however do all of those things to you, I may have just provided you with a new addiction too, and you may want to avoid this website at all cost, unless you are willing to get sucked in that is.

Ode to Zicam

Feb 23rd, 2009 Posted in That's random | no comment »

Sometimes I feel like Zicam should pay me endorsement money for the amount of times I’ve forced my unsolicited advice on a sniffling friend. But here I go again, singing Zicam’s praises, totally free of charge.

This stuff people, really is awesome. When I first saw a commercial for it years ago, my ears perked up when I heard the word ‘homeopathic’ mentioned in what I thought was just another one of those dreary mediciny cold medicinal  medications commercial. But since I grew up with many homeopathic treatments for all the aches, pains, and scratches that come long with being a teenager, and often witnessed the miracious healings it caused, I knew I needed to pay attention to this product.

I did pay attention, and it’s been my one any only remedy every time I am caught with a cold. I love it because 1- it’s natural, 2- it’s not medical (in the chemical sense), 3- if you take it early enough you can pretty much skip a cold alltogether, 4- if you do not get to it early enough, it does speed you through a cold on the fast track, as opposed to the drawn out, sickly, grossy version you’d have otherwise.

But now I know for sure that little bottle is worth it’s weight in gold. Normally when my husband gets just a regular cold, it typically somehow turns into brochitis, a sinus infection, emphysema, polio, or scurvy to name a few outcomes. BUT this time around I was finally able to force my will upon him and kept him on top of popping a Zicam tablet every 3 hours (as opposed to his typical regiment of 1 a day, along with a lot of sighing and eye rolling) and today, 4 days into a common cold, it’s kinda looking like it’s on the way out.

So if it can do that magic on a man-cold, imagine what it can do for you! So run out, and get yourself a swab, or a gel, or a melt (my fave), or a mist, or whatever float your boat. I have tried them all, and they all work equally well. The boxes look like so and you can find them in the cold and allergy section of the grocery store or pharmacy. Now off you go!
